Indonesian language climate change compilation by Down to Earth

Down to Earth has released an Indonesian language book as a special edition to mark the organisation’s 20th birthday. The book consists of 12 articles related to climate change from the Down to Earth newsletter and the topics covered range from climate change developments and policies at national and international level to Indigenous Peoples’ rights and climate justice.

The publication is titled “Keadilan Iklim Dan Penghidupan Yang Berkelanjutan” and can be downloaded here (pdf file 1.0 MB).

The push for REDD could sidestep land and resource rights in Indonesia

The latest issue of Down to Earth’s newsletter includes a detailed overview of REDD in Indonesia. The danger, Down to Earth points out, is that in the rush to get REDD pilot schemes up and running before the Copenhagen climate summit in December 2009, important issues such as land and resource rights in forests are sidestepped.
