The Australian Government has said they would consider a target of 25% reduction on 2000 levels if the 'rest of the world acts at the Copenhagen climate negotiations' etc. It's a shameful target for a polluting northern country; and shameful it has the support of major environment NGOs like the Australian Conservation Foundation, WWF, and the Climate Institute. It's opposed by grassroots climate justice activists across Australia, as is REDD.
