“Cogiendo atajos”: FERN/FPP report available in Spanish

The November 2008 report, “Cutting Corners; how the FCPF is failing forests and peoples” is now available in Spanish. The report, produced by FERN and Forest Peoples Programme looks at nine country concept notes presented to the World Bank (so called R-PINs) to get REDD money and finds that none of them has been developed in a proper consultative process, nor do they address issues as rights and governance and the whole process has been in violation of the Bank’s own procedures and guidelines.

Cogiendo atajos

El fondo del Banco Mundial para reducir las emisiones de carbono mediante la protección de los bosques le falla a los bosques y a los pueblos. Noviembre de 2008, 24 páginas. Este informe de FERN y el FPP analiza nueve notas sobre la idea del plan de preparación (llamadas R-PIN) presentadas por los gobiernos y las ONG conservacionistas al Banco Mundial para conseguir dinero de REDD. El análisis revela que no se han desarrollado procesos de consulta apropiados en ningún país, ni se han abordado cuestiones como los derechos humanos, la gobernanza, o la tenencia de tierra, entre otros asuntos criticos. El proceso viola, de esa manera, las propias normas y procedimientos del Banco Mundial y corre el riesgo de repetir los errores graves de anteriores politicas e iniciativas internacionales forestales verticalistas.
